Crater at Baar, Germany

Hole created by explosion of powder storage cellars at Baar, Germany, 7 miles south of Ingolstadt, when Thunderbolts of the 368 Group attacked them on 24 April 1945. The pilots noticed that the huge steel doors had been left open and strafed the openings. The first explosion shot debris to 1,000 feet and the following one blew chunks of steel and concrete into the cloud later at 7,000 feet.

Dam breeched at Dieuze, France

High level strategy dictated the breach of the dam at Dieuze, France, before the Third Army November 8 offensive so that the Germans could not release the water between advancing Third Army troops and their supplies after the attack had begun. These photos show how Thunderbolts of the 362nd Group successfully executed the order, in spite of a difficult target and very heavy flak. The mission was led by Group CO, Col. Laughlin, who scored one of the direct hits.

Ninth AF 2nd Phase Interpretation Report US10/D 717 LOCALITY: BULLAY RAIL ROAD BRIDGE SORTIE: US 15/4151-500e-05 14 Feb 45, 1315A COVER: The target is covered on prints of good quality, which are partially cloud obscured. STATEMENT: The second span from the west bank of the river has collapsed into the river blocking both rail and road traffic via this bridge. ACTIVITY: Comparative cover of 2.2.45 shows two wagons on the through line to BERNKASTEL and this cover shows their position unchanged indicating that this line is not in use. No activity is noted. 20th P. I. D. at Hq. 10th P. G.

Destruction of 17th SS Panzer Grenadier Division

Results of an attack by two squadrons of the 405 Group on the CP of the 17 SS Panzer Grenadier Division. The CP, located at Peltre, France, two miles east of Metz, was dive-bombed on November 8 along with many other CPs in a campaign timed to aid General Patton's offensive in the area. The buildings housing the G-2 and G-3 at Peltre were completely destroyed and most of the occupants killed.
