Maranda M. Gilmore is the Deputy Director at the Air Force Historical Research Agency (AFHRA) located on Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama. She plans, organizes and oversees the activities of AFHRA, represents the Agency with a variety of installation and functional area organizations, and ensures all personnel complies with legal and regulatory requirements.
Ms. Gilmore began her career with the USAF as an archivist at AFHRA in August 2010. After serving in several key roles and overseeing numerous improvement projects at AFHRA, in May 2017, she accepted a research and writing specialist position at Air University Press. Immediately prior to her current position, Ms. Gilmore returned to AFHRA as the lead archivist for the research team.
After Ms. Gilmore earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with a specialization in social science from the University of Alabama (UA), she began her public service career as a social studies teacher at Pickens County High School (PCHS) in Reform, Alabama. It was during this time that she earned a Master of Library and Information Studies from UA and became the library media specialist at the PCHS.
