History can have a price tag: “Golden Shovel” returned home
The shovel used during the Sept. 26, 1921 ground breaking ceremony of the Airship Hangar at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, is photographed April 29, 2022. After the ceremony in 1921, the shovel was lost at the conclusion of the ceremony for more than 100 years and was later brought back to Scott as a historic artifact.
