Ninth AF 2nd Phase Interpretation Report US10/D 895 LOCALITY: VON RUNDSTEDT’S HEADQUARTERS SORTIE: US 12/4307 – 5001-14 TOT: 20 Mar 45, 1010A PERIOD UNDER REVIEW: This report covers all damage to date. COVER: The target is covered on prints of good quality. STATEMENT: Ground sources have reported this castle to be Von Rundstedt’s Headquarters. The east wing of the castle is completely destroyed and the entire top floor is demolished or gutted by fire. The small building just south of the “L” shaped building is destroyed and the top floor of the “L” shaped building is severely damaged. This building is completely destroyed. At least 11 dwellings are destroyed and 7 others severely damaged. ACTIVITY: Evidence of evacuation of the premises is noted as stacks of supplies are in the yard and several M/T are present. The large underground buildings to the NW remain undamaged. 20th P. I. D. at Hq. 10th P.G.
