Thousands surrender 2
Thousands of German soldiers and vehicles photographed by a pilot of XIX TAC's 10th Photo Group as they are surrendered to American Third Army troops SW of Pilsen on May 9, 1945 - - Victory in Europe Day. It is a fitting last scene for the story of destruction wrought by the closely coordinated efforts of the Third U.S. Army and the XIX Tactical Air Command during their drive through France and, finally, during their speedy, deadly thrust across the "impenetrable" German Reich.
