Training at Randolph Field
Training at Randolph Field, Texas: Phone system connects teacher and pupil. A complete telephone system connecting A.C. instructor in the front cockpit and his Flying Cadet student pilot in the rear cockpit, a distance of 3 ft., is used at Randolph Field, Texas giant training field. Telephone dial is the only part that's missing…and of course, no "busy signals". Two former Minneapolis, Minn. Men demonstrate the unit. Lt. Fred E. Hild, front cockpit, former All American Football Star of Coe College, and now a flying instructor for Uncle Sam, phones his pupil, F/C D. E. Crawford. The receivers are built right into the helmet in order to facilitate hearing above the roar of the planes' engine. (12016 A.C.)
