Command Post at Etain
CP at Etain, France. Occupied by XIX TAC Advance Headquarters on 23 September 1944, the CP was approximately 15 miles from Third Army troops who were assaulting tough Maginot Line defenses before Metz. Location of CP and bad Lorraine weather made it a popular hostel for XIX TAC pilots returning from attacks on the Metz fortifications.
