Generals Spaatz, Patton, Doolittle, Vandenberg, and Weyland (reading from left to right) meet at Advance Headquarters in Nancy, France, in December 1944, to formulate plans for the breach of the Siegfried Line. Plans were upset later in the month by the German Ardennes breakthrough.
