✈️Team AFHMP Spotlight: American Airpower-The Korean War 75th Anniversary 1950-2025 ✈️

Today we're spotlighting a recent video production generated by the Secretary of the Air Force's Public Affairs Office. This video highlights the 75th Anniversary of the U.S. Air Force's involvement in the Korean War, and features Dr. Andrew Wackerfuss, a member of the DAF History team. The Korean War, which spanned from 1950 to 1953, marked the first major combat action for the newly independent United States Air Force.

The Air Force played a crucial role in the war, both in achieving air superiority and supporting ground operations. Air Force units helped push back the initial advances of the invading North Korean forces in late 1950, then fought back against Chinese Communist forces as they entered the war on the side of North Korea. By 1953 both forces agreed to a truce that marked the 38th parallel as the border between North and South Korea, establishing the Demilitarized Zone between both countries that still exists today.

Congratulations to Dr. Wackerfuss and the Department of the Air Force's History Office!
