Lineage.  Constituted as 3 Communications Squadron, Air Support, on 8 Apr 1942.  Activated on 25 Apr 1942.  Redesignated as: 3 Air Support Communications Squadron on 11 Jan 1943; 3 Tactical Air Communications Squadron on 1 Apr 1944.  Inactivated on 4 Oct 1945.  Disbanded on 8 Oct 1948.  Reconstituted, redesignated as 3 Air Support Group, and activated, on 15 Jun 1992.  Redesignated as 3 Air Support Operations Group on 1 Jul 1994.
