Lineage.  Constituted as 78 Station Medical Group on 24 Sep 1948.  Activated on 16 Nov 1948.  Redesignated as 78 Medical Group on 1 Apr 1949.  Inactivated on 6 Feb 1952.  Redesignated as 78 USAF Hospital on 20 Jun 1955.  Activated on 18 Aug 1955.  Inactivated on 31 Dec 1969.  Consolidated (16 Sep 1994) with USAF Hospital, Robins, which was constituted on 12 Oct 1970.  Activated on 15 Nov 1970.  Redesignated as: 653 Medical Group on 1 Oct 1992; 78 Medical Group on 1 Oct 1994.

Assignments.  78 Fighter (later, 78 Fighter-Interceptor) Wing, 16 Nov 1948-6 Feb 1952.  78 Fighter Group, 18 Aug 1955; 78 Fighter Wing, 18 Oct 1956-31 Dec 1969.  Warner Robins Air Materiel Area (later, Warner Robins Air Logistics Center), 15 Nov 1970; 78 Air Base Wing, 1 Oct 1994-.
