Lineage.    The Maintenance Squadron, 82 Maintenance and Supply Group (designated on 28 Jul 1947; organized on 15 Aug 1947; discontinued on 1 Aug 1948) and the 82 Maintenance Squadron, Fighter, Single Engine (constituted on 14 Jun 1948; activated on 1 Aug 1948; inactivated on 2 Oct 1949) consolidated (22 Oct 1984) with the 82 Field Maintenance Squadron (constituted as 82 Consolidated Aircraft Maintenance Squadron on 17 Jun 1957; activated on 8 Jul 1957; inactivated on 8 Jan 1958; redesignated as 82 Field Maintenance Squadron on 22 Jun 1972; activated on 1 Feb 1973).  Inactivated on 30 Apr 1990.  Redesignated as 82 Maintenance Squadron on 7 Nov 1997.  Activated on 1 Dec 1997.  Redesignated as 982 Maintenance Squadron on 1 Aug 2002.
