Lineage.  Constituted as 1 Materiel Squadron, 2 Air Base Group c. 22 Aug 1940.  Activated on 1 Sep 1940.  Redesignated as: 3 Materiel Squadron on 17 Jan 1941; 3 Service Squadron on 13 Jun 1942; 3 Engineering Squadron on 10 May 1944; 3 Air Engineering Squadron c. Jan 1945.  Inactivated on 17 Jan 1946.  Disbanded on 8 Oct 1948.  Reconstituted, and redesignated as 703 Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, on 17 Dec 2002.  Activated on 10 Jan 2003.
