Lineage. Constituted as 940 Materiel Squadron, and activated, on 15 Jan 1963. Organized in the Reserve on 11 Feb 1963. Discontinued, and inactivated, on 1 Dec 1965. Redesignated 940 Aircraft Generation Squadron, and activated in the Reserve, on 1 Apr 1995. Redesignated as 940 Aircraft Maintenance Squadron on 1 Oct 2002. Inactivated on 1 Jul 2009. Activated on 29 Apr 2016.
