Career assignments include: various duties as company and field grade officer, 1930-1942; Chief of Staff, V Bomber Command, 1942-1945; Commanding General, 314th Composite Wing, 1946; Deputy Commanding General, Ninth Air Force, Tactical Air Command, 1946-1948; successively Commander, Thirteenth Air Force and 18th Fighter Wing, 1948; Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations of the Far East Air Forces (FEAF), 1949-1952; Chief of Staff, HQ Air Defense Command, 1952-1954; Commander, Central Air Defense Force, 1954-1961. Retired July 1961. Died in Colorado Springs, CO.
Personal and official papers relating to Crabb's military career. Includes five bound journals (1949-1952) consisting of logs, correspondence, and special reports which chronicle Crabb's day by day activities while acting as Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, FEAF. Also includes personal records retained in his 201 File (1943-1945) and various reports (1941-1946) primarily relating to the Pacific Theater, Wolld War II, and unification of Armed Forces (1945). Includes printed material dealing with such subjects as the Fifth Air Force (1945) and FEAF Operations (19511952). Also includes various other memorabilia, scrapbooks, newsclippings, and photographs (1929-1945) relating mostly to Crabb's early military career.
