Served to grade of Quartermaster Third Class, US Naval Reserve Force, April-August 1917; transferred and served to grade of Private First Class, Aviation Section, Enlisted Reserve Corps, August 1917-March 1918; commissioned Second Lieutenant, Aviation Section, Signal Officer Reserve Corps, March 1918. Career assignments include: duty with 12th Aero Squadron, 1918-1919. Discharged May 1919. Died in Stockbridge, MA.
Personal and official papers relating to Dwight's Air Service career. Includes correspondence (1917-1919) and diary (1918-1919) detailing the everyday life of an aviator from training until the end of World War I. Includes printed material (197-1919) consisting of booklets and leaflets saved by Dwight, as well as "The Adventures of Henry W. Dwight" written by his grandson. Contains official orders and letters (1917-1919), captioned photographs (1918-1919), and news clippings (1919-1920, 1930). Also includes printed material relating to the 12th Aero Squadron (1919-1960), Dwight's ground school notebook (1917), and his flight log books (1917-1919).
