Career assignments include: various duties as company and field grade officer, 1934-1943; Chief of Staff, Thirteenth Air Force, 1943-1945; Assistant to Chief of Staff, Plans, HQ USAAF, 1946-1947; Chief of Staff to USAF Representative to United Nations Military Staff Committee, 1948-1951; Deputy Director and (later) Director of Information, Office of the Secretary, Department of the Air Force, 1951-1954 and 1957-1962; Commandant, Air War College, 1964-1966. Retired August 1966. Died at Bethesda Naval Hospital.
Personal papers relating to Luehman's years in the military. Includes published materials and clippings relating to the Sino-Japanese conflict (1934-1938), a few materials on the United States Military Academy (1929-1934), studies relating to the Arctic (1946-1947), and several items on the United Nations (1945-1958). Also includes some material on bombing and bombsights (1937-1943).
