Air Force Security Forces Center

Lineage.  Established as the Air Force Office of Security Police, and activated as a Separate Operating Agency, on September 1, 1979. Effective February 5, 1991, status changed from a Separate Operating Agency to a Field Operating Agency. Redesignated as Air Force Security Police Agency on August 1, 1991. Redesignated as Air Force Security Forces Center on March 17, 1997, and concurrently its status changed from a Field Operating Agency of the USAF to a Direct Reporting Unit. Effective October 1, 1998, the status of this organization returned to that of a Field Operating Agency of the USAF.  Field Operating Agency status lost on 1 Oct 2014.
