Watson's career assignments included consecutive Pay Master and Public relations Officer at Naval Air Station in Argentia, Newfoundland during 1941 through 1942 and in 1943 through 1944 he was a staff officer in the 327th Fighter Group. These personal papers relate to Watson's various World War II duty stations. Included are newspapers from Argentia, Newfoundland Naval Air Station during 1941 and 1942 as well as materials relating to the Battle of the North Atlantic and the defense of Iceland in 1941. Maps of World War II operations from 1940 through 1945 are enclosed. There are various other materials pertaining to World War II in conjunction with the Atlantic Charter, a paper by Joseph Alsop and Robert Kinter on the subject of Lend Lease. Additional enclosures are an article by Edward Stettinius on World War II diplomacy, a handbook on Switzerland, and numerous copies of a newspaper for French Air Force students in the United States during 1944.
