Lineage. Constituted as 398 Service Squadron on 28 Dec 1942. Activated on 18 Jan 1943. Disbanded on 29 Apr 1944. Reconstituted, redesignated as 398 Expeditionary Mission Support Squadron, and converted to provisional status, on 24 Mar 2003. Redesignated as 398 Expeditionary Force Support Squadron on 17 Mar 2011.

Assignments. Air Service Command, 18 Jan 1943; Eleventh Air Force, 3 Oct 1943-29 Apr 1944. United States Air Forces in Europe to activate or inactivate at any time on or after 24 Mar 2003.
