Lineage. Constituted as 409 Base Headquarters and Air Base Squadron on 14 Aug 1942. Activated on 20 Aug 1942. Disbanded on 1 Apr 1944. Reconstituted, redesignated as 409 Expeditionary Mission Support Squadron, and converted to provisional status, on 1 Feb 2003. Redesignated as 409 Expeditionary Force Support Squadron on 17 Mar 2011.

Assignments. Second Air Force, 20 Aug 1942-1 Apr 1944. United States Air Forces in Europe to activate or inactivate at any time on or after 1 Feb 2003.
