Lineage.  Constituted as 81 Installations Squadron, Fighter, Single Engine, and activated, on 1 May 1948.  Redesignated as:  81 Installations Squadron, Fighter, Jet on 16 Jul 1949; 81 Installations Squadron on 20 Jan 1950.  Inactivated on 26 Jan 1956.  Redesignated as 81 Civil Engineering Squadron, and activated, on 16 Jan 1962.  Organized on 12 May 1962.  Inactivated on 1 Jul 1993.  Activated on 1 Jul 1993.  Redesignated as 81 Civil Engineer Squadron on 1 Mar 1994.  Inactivated on 22 May 2009.  Activated on 16 Dec 2019.
